When is a user story too big?

I noticed that the Scrum Alliance are running two days courses on Story writing and if memory serves me correctly the course counts as 13 educational units - which is perhaps unlucky if your cautious around the number 13 as I am and any right minded person would be!

I often find that User stories tend to be a bit undervalued and not used to there full potential. Often the pressures to delivery code any code receives a higher priority  than good planning!

I often find that the best way to write 'good' user stories is in story writing workshops that consist of developers, stakeholders, business owners and product owner! Getting some many people together often isn't easy and as with all things agile calling these sessions 'story writing workshops' often leaves us open to some gentle mocking!
